What are BACS direct debits and how do they work?

BACS stands for Bankers' Automated Clearing Services and is one of the most common bank-to-bank transfers in the UK. To initiate a Bacs Direct Debit, explicit customer approval is mandatory to ensure their consent to debit their accounts. Capchase establishes direct debit mandates with all payers in accordance with the Direct Debit Guarantee through our processing partner, GoCardless. Customers retain the right to cancel this approval at any time through their bank.

This payment method supports only fund withdrawals from UK-domiciled GBP bank accounts. When using Bacs Direct Debit, payments take 3 working days to clear and are always conducted in GBP.
