What are Autogiro direct debits and how do they work?
Last updated: April 28, 2026
Autogiro is a payment scheme used in Sweden to collect payments in Swedish Kronas. It’s the Swedish equivalent of SEPA in the Eurozone. To initiate an Autogiro Direct Debit, explicit customer approval is required to ensure their consent to debit their accounts. Capchase establishes direct debit mandates with all payers in accordance with the Bankgirot standards through our processing partner, GoCardless.
Autogiro debits require 8 business days' advance notice to the client, meaning the payment must be submitted 8 business days prior to the payment due date. This payment method supports only withdrawals from SEK bank accounts domiciled in Sweden.
